MODERN METHODS OF TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

The article examines modern methods of teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions, which demonstrate high adaptability to the demands of a globalized society characterized by rapid social, technological, and cultural changes. Emphasis is placed on the relevance of innovative pedagogical practices that address the needs of a new generation of students and promote their integration into the international educational and professional environment. Particular attention is given to analyzing approaches such as communicative-oriented teaching, which fosters the development of effective interpersonal communication skills; blended learning, which combines traditional and distance formats to create conditions for flexible management of the educational process; and the integration of digital technologies, which transform teaching methodologies through tools for virtual learning, platforms for independent study, and means of interactive engagement. Additionally, the creation of an immersive environment is explored, implemented through technologies such as augmented and virtual reality aimed at deeply immersing students in a linguistic environment and simulating real-life situations for practical language use. The study aims to characterize modern methods of teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions in the context of developing students' foreign language competencies. The research methodology includes a systematic approach to analyzing contemporary pedagogical practices and the application of quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate the effectiveness of innovative approaches. The scientific novelty of the study lies in identifying key aspects of integrating advanced technologies and methodologies into the process of teaching foreign languages. The research also identifies prospects for incorporating virtual and augmented reality into foreign language teaching to create an immersive environment. The conclusions confirm the effectiveness of innovative approaches in teaching foreign languages, highlighting their role in developing interdisciplinary and communicative competencies. The results of the study can be applied to improving educational programs in higher education institutions, training educators, and developing educational standards that meet contemporary challenges.
