The article presents an empirical analysis of emotional-affective predictors of psychological resilience among police officers performing professional duties under conditions of extreme workload during wartime. In the current security context, law enforcement activity is characterized by heightened responsibility, constant risk, and intensive psycho-emotional pressure, which actualizes the issue of preserving the individual’s regulatory resources. Theoretical generalizations indicate that depressive tendencies and anxiety may function both as factors of affective dysregulation and as indicators of potential vulnerability within the structure of psychological resilience. The aim of the study was to determine the role of depression, state anxiety, and trait anxiety in the system of emotional factors associated with aggressiveness and hostility as markers of destructive tendencies. The sample consisted of 148 police officers aged 18 to 31 years. Standardized psychodiagnostic instruments were used to assess levels of depression, state and trait anxiety, as well as forms of aggressive behavior. Data were processed using descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation analysis, and multiple regression modeling.
The findings revealed a structurally coherent affective cluster integrating depression and anxiety indicators, along with statistically significant associations between affective variables and indices of aggressiveness and hostility. The set of emotional variables accounted for 32% of the variance in aggressiveness, confirming the integral nature of their influence. The results suggest that depressive and anxiety-related tendencies may be considered psychological markers of vulnerability and reduced self-regulatory capacity under wartime stress exposure. The practical significance of the study lies in the potential for early identification of affective risk factors and the development of targeted psychological support programs for police officers operating in extreme conditions.
