THE ROLE OF THE COURSE “ACADEMIC WRITING AND INTEGRITY” IN SHAPING THE CULTURE OF SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive theoretical and methodological analysis of the role of the course “Academic Writing and Integrity” in shaping the culture of scientific communication in higher education institutions. The relevance of the study is determined by ongoing transformational processes in contemporary higher education, the increasing requirements for the quality of academic texts, the level of academic culture, and adherence to ethical standards of scholarly activity in the context of Ukraine’s integration into the European and global academic space. The paper substantiates that the culture of scientific communication is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon encompassing linguistic, cognitive, research, and ethical components of academic activity. The methodological framework of the study is based on methods of theoretical analysis of scholarly sources, systemic and comparative analysis, as well as generalization and interpretation, which ensured a holistic approach to understanding the research problem. The findings indicate that the course “Academic Writing and Integrity” performs an important integrative and value-oriented function within the educational process, contributing to the development of academic writing skills, critical thinking, responsible attitudes toward intellectual work, and awareness of academic integrity as a fundamental value of the academic community. The study emphasizes the necessity of a systematic and interdisciplinary approach to teaching this course as a key condition for enhancing the culture of scientific communication and improving the overall quality of higher education training.
