This article explores the role of computational technologies in foreign language teaching, with a particular focus on computational linguistics. Digital tools play a significant role in modern educational systems, as their integration into lectures and classroom activities enhances both visual and auditory engagement and facilitates the processing of large amounts of information. The author also presents a case study on the systematization and integration of linguistic knowledge and online resources into a digital knowledge portal. Computational linguistics possesses a distinct object and subject of study–namely, the transformation of textual and spoken language–areas traditionally outside the scope of classical linguistics. The objectives associated with text and speech transformation extend beyond the descriptive boundaries of conventional linguistics, which historically led to the classification of computational linguistics as an “applied” discipline. Contemporary computational linguistics intersects extensively with theoretical linguistics, artificial intelligence, and mathematics. It leverages theoretical linguistic frameworks to construct dynamic language models and to facilitate the transformation of texts and speech, thereby providing methodological foundations and empirical resources for testing linguistic hypotheses. Furthermore, computational linguistics contributes to the domains of knowledge and information processing, employing mathematical techniques to analyze and manipulate language data within applied systems. Language learners refine interpersonal communication skills by interacting with native speakers of the target language in real-time through video, audio, or text-based modalities. Learners collaborate on presentation tasks with peers or instructors at any time and from any location. The internet offers a unique opportunity for foreign language learners to engage with authentic texts, listen to native speech, and communicate within culturally contextualized environments, thereby gaining exposure to the traditions and social norms of the target language’s country.
