THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE INTERNATIONALIZATION OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING CONTENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

The article provides a theoretical substantiation of the foundations of the internationalization of foreign language teaching content in higher education institutions as one of the key factors in enhancing the quality of future professionals’ training in the context of globalization and European integration. The research analyses contemporary approaches of Ukrainian and international scholars to interpreting the essence of educational internationalization and identifies its conceptual foundations, structural components, and principal areas of implementation within the university education system. The methodological framework of the research comprised the analysis, synthesis, systematization, generalization, and comparison of philosophical, psychological and pedagogical, and language-teaching literature, regulatory and legal documents, and international higher education development strategies. Generalization of the research findings made it possible to define the internationalization of foreign language teaching content as a purposeful process of integrating international, intercultural, and global components into the content of professional foreign language training. It has been substantiated that the structural organization of this process encompasses goal-oriented, content, procedural, competency-based, and outcome components. It has been established that the effective implementation of internationalization is facilitated through the application of methodological approaches ESP, EAP, CLIL, EMI, the concept of Internationalization at Home, as well as contemporary digital technologies and forms of international academic interaction. The scientific novelty of the research lies in systematizing theoretical approaches to the internationalization of foreign language teaching content and clarifying its essence, structure, and functions within the system of professional training of higher education students. The practical significance of the findings reveals their potential application in developing internationalization strategies for higher education institutions, modernizing educational programmes, improving the content of the courses “Foreign Language for Specific Purposes” and “Business Foreign Language”, and designing teaching and methodological support for foreign language training.
