Abstract

The article presents a theoretical analysis of the individual’s psychosomatic health under contemporary global challenges – full-scale war, forced migration, economic instability, information overload and the longterm consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is shown that prolonged exposure to chronic stressors disrupts the interrelation between mental and somatic processes, increasing the prevalence of functional, conversion and psychogenic somatic disorders among various age and social groups of the Ukrainian population. The expediency of considering the individual’s psychosomatic health as a holistic phenomenon in three interrelated dimensions – psychodiagnostic, psychiatric and psychocorrectional – is substantiated. Within the psychodiagnostic dimension, the possibilities and limitations of existing diagnostic tools for detecting alexithymia, maladaptive coping strategies and early signs of psychosomatic distress are analysed, particularly in the work of practical psychologists. The psychiatric dimension is disclosed through an analysis of clinical studies on the psychosomatic consequences of war-related psychotrauma among servicemen, civilians, children and adolescents; the necessity of interdisciplinary cooperation between psychologists and psychiatrists, delineation of competencies and timely routing of at-risk individuals is substantiated. Within the psychocorrectional dimension, approaches to restoring the individual’s psychosomatic balance are systematised – body-oriented, cognitive-behavioural, resourcebased and psychoeducational techniques – and the role of in-service training courses for practical psychologists in building their readiness to provide comprehensive psychological support is substantiated. It is concluded that an integrative model of psychological support for the individual’s psychosomatic health is needed, combining diagnostic, clinical and corrective components. The findings can be used in the practical work of psychologists and in the system of in-service training of educators.
