INTEGRATION OF THE PEACEBUILDING PARADIGM INTO THE EDUCATION SYSTEM OF THE 21ST CENTURY: EXPERIENCE AND PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION “INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC AND HUMANITARIAN UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER ACADEMICIAN

Abstract

The article provides a theoretical and practical analysis of the implementation of peace pedagogy in the activities of modern higher education institutions in the context of military challenges and sociocultural transformations in Ukrainian society. The conceptual basis of the article is an analysis of the scientific and pedagogical legacy of Academician Stepan Yakymovych Demyanchuk as the founder of the author’s concept of peace pedagogy, which focuses on the individual as a bearer of humanistic values, civic maturity, and responsibility for the fate of the state. It is argued that international activity contributes to the formation of a global scientific and educational space based on the principles of mutual understanding, cooperation, and a culture of peace, while strengthening the European integration of Ukrainian higher education. Special attention is focused on the university’s research activities within the theme “Educating schoolchildren and students on the ideas of peace,” which involves publishing results in professional and international publications, actively involving students in research work, and organizing international conferences and competitions for scientific works. It has been proven that peacebuilding in modern education is a holistic system of values and practices that combines academic training, patriotic education, intercultural communication, and social responsibility, ensuring the formation of a personality capable of active citizenship and the establishment of peace as a social goal.
