FORMATION OF SOCIAL COMPETENCE OF JUNIOR SCHOOLCHILDREN AS A TASK OF CIVIC EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF THE NEW UKRAINIAN SCHOOL

Abstract

The article considers the formation of social competence of younger schoolchildren as an important task of the civic educational branch in the conditions of implementing the concept of the New Ukrainian School.Social competence is defined as an integrative personal quality that encompasses communicative flexibility, responsibility, empathy, tolerance, the ability to make informed decisions, think critically, and resolve conflicts constructively. Particular attention is paid to the potential of works of art, role-playing games and interactive exercises as means of forming positive social behavior of younger schoolchildren. The proposed methodology integrates work with texts, discussion, staging, group problem-solving and psychological exercises aimed at developing social skills of younger schoolchildren. The authors emphasize that group work in primary grades contributes not only to the assimilation of educational material, but also to the formation of important social and personal qualities in students: increasing self-confidence through group support, awareness of the importance of personal contribution to the common result, etc. The works of art “A Bunch of Grapes” and “Grandma” are considered as examples of material with high educational and developmental potential, which contributes to the formation of empathy, goodwill, mutual respect, the ability to resolve conflict situations in the family, etc. Implementing such an approach in primary grades not only increases the effectiveness of learning, but also prepares students for active and responsible participation in public life.In their conclusions, the authors note that the results of the study may be useful for teachers, methodologists, and scientists who are looking for effective ways to form the social competence of younger schoolchildren in the conditions of the modern educational space.
